Choosing Your Celebrant

One of your first questions to prospective celebrants will be concerning their fee. When comparing prices you may like to keep in mind that some celebrants are able to offer unlimited time and commitment to the preparation period, provide an on-site rehearsal at the venue, and give you their full attention on the day without the pressure of having to rush to their next appointment.

Accomplished celebrants will assist you to put your own ideas, words and rituals into the ceremony and also provide you with many alternative sample vows and readings if you wish.

The on-site rehearsal is most reassuring as it helps to disperse last minute nerves and uncertainties; it assists the couple by encouraging them to practise their parts at the beginning of the ceremony, to rehearse their vows and the exchange of rings. Any readers who are inexperienced in public speaking will be greatly supported by having the opportunity to go through their lines. This is even more important when a public address system is to be used.

A few celebrants offer a presentation copy of the ceremony to the couple afterwards as a memento, and this is something I am proud to do.

I always encourage couples to interview several celebrants so that they can select the one they feel most comfortable with. This particular day is one that you will want to remember with joy and satisfaction so it is worthwhile taking your time in making this decision.
